Frequently Asked Questions

What is the STAR method?
STAR stands for Situation, Task, Action, Result. It's a structured framework for answering behavioral interview questions ("Tell me about a time when..."). It helps you tell a clear, concise story that demonstrates a specific competency.
How long should a STAR response be?
60–90 seconds when spoken, roughly 150–250 words written. The Situation and Task should be brief (20% of time), the Action should be the longest (50%), and the Result should be impactful (30%). Don't ramble.
How many STAR stories should I prepare?
8–12 stories that cover common themes: leadership, conflict, failure, teamwork, initiative, problem-solving, time management, and going above and beyond. Each story can often be adapted to multiple questions.
